LIMITLESS FKT’s

Damian Hall on his way to setting the FKT on our Beast of Llangattock 32M Ultra

We’ve recently been reading 3 fantastic books on ultra distance running.

First up was Damian Hall’s In it for the Long Run - subtitled “Breaking Records and getting FKT”, which aside from the way it sounds (!), also means ‘Fastest Known Time’.

Damian has achieved this on numerous routes and races, including Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, South West Coast Path, Cape Wrath Trail and the Pennine Way (though they don’t all still stand). (Check out his website for further amazing results: https://www.ultradamo.com/running).

Anyway, in his book, he mentions Jonny Muir’s “wondrous” The Mountains are Calling, and we have also been reading Mike Cudahy’s Wild Trails to Far Horizons. (Mike was the first to break the 3 day barrier for the Pennine Way in the 1980s)

All 3 books touch on the immersion in nature that trail running gives, and the latter two in particular describe in wonderful prose what it means to them to have been gifted with a lifelong love of hill running.

With such inspiration, we started to think about Limitless Trails’ Fastest Known Times, so have gone back over our last 4 years’ results, and you can find the FKT for each of our races below.

See if you can spot your name amongst them – and yes Damo is there 😊 .

In the build-up to our final race of the year - the Secret Santa Series on 2nd December - we are wondering if this gets your competitive juices flowing for a crack at some of these FKTs next year???
